“CITIES HAVE THE CAPABILITY OF PROVIDING SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY, ONLY BECAUSE, AND ONLY WHEN,
THEY ARE CREATED FOR EVERYBODY”

ABOUT ME

I'm a city planner, historic preservation planner, and commissioner on Berkeley's Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC). I love watching communities and cities grow, especially Berkeley. If I'm not watching sports or spending time with loved ones, I'm probably flying my drone or trying to sew a shirt. I have recreational drone flying permits for the US, UK, and Ireland.

EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE

I've worked as a city planner/historic preservation planner for approximately a decade. As a planner with Berkeley's Planning Department for more than three years, my experience included articulating planning codes at the zoning counter to a range of interested parties whether professionals, property owners, or potential buyers. I also reviewed Historic Resource Evaluations (HREs), processed Administrative Use Permits (AUPs), Use Permits with Public Hearing (UPPH), and Structural Alteration Permits (SAPs). I've presented staff recommendations for these discretionary planning permits to the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) and Zoning Adjustments Board (ZAB). I've also encouraged and participated in neighbor mediation for residential projects in Berkeley. My last four years has been as a city planner/preservation planner for San Francisco's Planning Department where I routinely evaluate whether properties meet State criteria to be historic resources, among other current planning and preservation projects.

My volunteer experience is primarily as a commissioner on the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) for the last 4.5 years and previously as chairperson for two terms.

I'm expanding my experience beyond reviewing HREs in accordance with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)/California Register Criteria and Berkeley's Landmarks Preservation Ordinance (LPO) to writing them as well.
